Dutch Design Stamps!
Pleased and very proud to present my new commissioned work celebrating the forty-year anniversary of the famous Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf.
In July, Post NL will be issuing ten stamps featuring five iconic photos that span Olaf's colourful career, entitled "Erwin Olaf 40 years of photography". On the stamp sheet are five iconic photos by him. The works are; "Pearls" (1986), "Julius Caesar, † 44 BC" (2000), "Nadia" (2002), "Portrait # 5" (2005) and "Portrait of Alex" (2018). All photos are unmistakably Erwin Olaf, who wants to show "a perfect world with a crack in it". On some parts of the stamp sheet, UV varnish (spot varnish) has been applied with screen printing.
Have always had an interest in the design of stamps from a very young age, stamps are a great insight into the past as well as modern graphic design. When you're looking at stamps as well as art, you spend a little more time than in our modern day instant-gratification activities. A great privilege to be involved in such a monumental moment in Erwin's career.
The "Erwin Olaf 40 Years of Photography" stamp sheet has ten stamps with the value indication Netherlands 1, intended for mail up to and including 20 grams for an address within the Netherlands. The stamps will be available from 1 July 2019 at the post office in the Bruna stores and via the website. The stamps can also be ordered by telephone from Collect Club customer service on telephone number 088 - 868 99 00. The period of validity is indefinite.
